1921 Fox Portable No. 3 Sterling
S11829
The Fox Portable No. 3 Sterling, which doesn’t fold like its two predecessors, was made in response to the Corona Typewriter Company’s lawsuit alleging patent infringement. The folding Corona 3 was wildly popular, and Corona viewed the folding Fox portables as threats to its market dominance. The lawsuit was at least a factor in the demise of the Fox Typewriter Company. Before closing down, Fox made about 1000 Sterlings. In contrast, it made about 10,000 No. 1s and about 2000 No. 2s.
